At Doctor Edges Hair Restoration / Dermatology Aesthetics / Wellness, we use the Direct Care model to make medicine the way it used to be, with a focus on the physician-patient relationship. We work for our patients, not the insurance company. This model allows us to offer pediatric and adult hair restoration, general, cosmetic, surgical dermatology, and internal medicine and wellness services. This model achieves better patient experiences, outcomes, & increased quality of care. We pride ourselves in providing quality patient experiences, excellence, & access to care with this model.

What is Direct Care

The Direct Care model offers patients personalized medical care, more relaxed visits, transparent pricing, & most patients pay less for their medical care compared to the traditional healthcare model. There are no copays, no billing of insurance, & no prior authorizations required. The pricing structure is transparent & listed online. Direct care practices are considered out of network allowing patients the freedom to choose their physician.

Please familiarize yourself with our scheduling and financial policy before booking:

  • We are NOT in contract with any commercial health insurance. We bill patients with commercial health insurance and self-pay patients through our direct pay preferred pricing rates. All pricing is listed online on our booking page.

Payment is due at time of booking. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so with a 24-hour notice to avoid a $100 no-show or late cancellation fee. Please call or text our office to cancel. Compliance and shared decision making is very important to achieving desirable results and keeping patients healthy. Patients who have three no-shows without contacting us will be discharged from the practice.

You are not charged again to reschedule your appointment online if done outside of your 24-hour appointment window.

Dr. Joseph Claiborne

Dr. Joseph Claiborne, III MD, FACP is a board certified internal medicine physician, specializing in hair transplant surgery and wellness, including weight loss management in Dallas - Fort worth.

Dr. Claiborne is a two-sport student-athlete and certified personal trainer, and earned an athletic scholarship to Howard University, where he played football and also ran track while completing his Bachelor of Science. Although satisfying, he endeavored to have a bigger impact in health care to his clients through medicine. He then pursued functional medicine training at Cleveland Clinic where he was the recipient of their prestigious institute of functional medicine scholarship. This allowed him to achieve his passion of creating an integrated and holistic approach to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic diseases, which commonly contributes to one’s hair loss, weight gain prevent weight-loss and significantly negatively affecting one’s quality of life.

His great listening skills and caring nature is what Dr. Claiborne’s patients pride him on. Dr. Felicia Ekpo

Dr. Felicia Ekpo is a board-certified dermatologist/hair transplant surgeon. She takes pride in building trusting physician-patient relationships. As a former beauty pageant queen, Dr. Ekpo understands the impact that skin disorders and hair loss can have on one’s overall health and self-esteem and loves to help people achieve their realistic hair growth goals and making her patients feel beautiful in their own skin. She uses her compassionate nature and expertise in integrative dermatology to provide individualized hair restoration and aesthetic treatment options to restore hair loss and rejuvenate skin in all ages and hair types.

Dr. Ekpo demonstrates consistent scholastic success, dating back to being recognized as valedictorian of Northeast Magnet High School and then graduating summa cum laude from Langston University. She then received her medical degree at Oklahoma State University where she graduated with honors and was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi National Honorary Medical Society. Dr. Ekpo completed her dermatology residency at St. Joseph Mercy in Ann Arbor, MI. During her time in Michigan she also served as Associate Faculty at Michigan State University College of Medicine where she educated medical students on various aspects of dermatology with an additional focus in hair restoration.

Dr. Ekpo is truly passionate about skin and hair loss and gives her patients exceptional care. Unlike most hair transplant surgeons, Dr. Ekpo is also a board-certified dermatological surgeon with further specialization in hair loss disorders and uses state-of-the art options, such as PRP (platelet rich plasma), exosome therapy, and hair transplantation to name a few. She has conducted research in hair loss disorders at the Cleveland Clinic with the world renowned and pioneer in hair loss disorders, Dr. Wilma Bergfeld, and completed her hair restoration training in Chicago with the exceptional Dr. William Yates. She has authored numerous dermatology publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at local, state, and national conferences.
